Al tools that support early disease detection, improve maternal and child health outcomes, and strengthen public health systems.
What we do
WAIG works to strengthen public health systems by applying Al to critical challenges in screening, surveillance, and decision-making. Our focus is on enabling earlier detection, improving information synthesis for policymakers and clinicians, and supporting evidence-based responses across population and care-delivery levels.
Who we Serve
Why it matters
Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for 70% of global maternal deaths - the majority of which are preventable with timely detection and care. (Source: Frontiers in Global Women's Health, 2025).
The OECD identifies workforce readiness as the single biggest barrier to responsible Al adoption in public institutions.
Responsible, locally-led AI solutions are demonstrating measurable impact across the Global South - from mosquito classification in Ghana to prenatal depression detection in Bangladesh. (Source: Johns Hopkins Center for Global Digital Health Innovation, 2025)

How We Deliver
From Pilot To Population: How We Deliver health AI
Our health AI solutions are designed for real-world public health systems, not controlled lab environments. We co-develop with governments and health ministries, integrate with existing CHPS compounds and district hospitals, and build local capacity to sustain deployment beyond the project lifecycle.
Co-design with health ministries to align tools with national health priorities and clinical workflows.
AI tools that support early disease detection, improve maternal and child health outcomes, and strengthen public health systems.
Pilot in community health settings with frontline workers, CHOs, and district health teams.
Predictive models that help farmers make informed decisions, improve yields, and reduce losses.
Iterate based on field evidence—refining models for local disease prevalence, language, and infrastructure constraints.
AI-based learning platforms and employment-matching systems that promote access and inclusion.
Scale through government systems—embedding AI into existing health information systems and referral networks.
